What’s The One Thing You Cannot Live Without?
So for the next bit of time the topic of my blog posts will vary but they will all ask a question that I will answer. I thought this would be a fun question to start with because it’s easy to answer and I have three answers. So my first thought was the practical answer, I couldn’t live without my computer because I do everything on my computer. Especially now that I have classes online, having a computer is essential. One time the power in my house went out when I had a low battery on my phone and computer. I started panicking because I might have to do nothing for a whole day. In school days, 24 hours is more like 48 hours. I’m the type of person who never procrastinates, so a situation where I’m forced to procrastinate is less than optimal. I also enjoy getting sleep ( I get at least 7.5 hours which is better than a lot of other teenagers), so I refuse to let my work stack up to where I need to pull an all-nighter. Luckily the power in my house came back on after an hour so the whole situation was actually uneventful.
I count on my computer but it’s not my favorite inanimate object. I have a stuffed animal that I’ve had since I was one years old. He’s an Easter bunny and I aptly named him Easter Bunny. I’m more attached to him than I am to my computer and I’d be very sad if he ever got destroyed. So if the question was “What object do you value the most”, it would be my stuffed animal but I can live without him because I don’t literally need him.
Now I realize that if my days focused solely on school, I’d be pretty bored. I have a lot of hobbies, so I always have something to do. I can’t imagine a world where I didn’t have my piano or all of my books. I don’t have a huge attachment to my piano or to my books (I do have an attachment to One Hundred Years Of Solitude though) but I couldn’t be happy without being able to play the piano or read the books or any of the other things I do. Practically I couldn’t live without my computer, I would be very sad if I had to leave my easter bunny, and I couldn’t be happy if I wasn’t able to do what makes me happy. Also, If we’re counting people as animate objects, then I couldn’t live without my close friends and family either.
These posts are pretty short, as you can see. Last time I had to teach about philosophy so I could show my opinion of it, so the philosophy posts were very long. I’m happy I went over it though, because now you, the reader, may be able to better articulate the answer to questions like these.
I’ll see you next week with a more thought provoking question, thanks for reading.
